 Athletics

​We offer cross country for boys and girls in the third through sixth grade. They compete in the fall with other schools in the diocese.  Please contact the school office at 724‑568‑3304 for additional information.

 Book Club

children readingBook club members read two novels together complete activities to correlate with each novel. They also got to watch the movies about the novels to compare and contrast the book to the movie.

 Chinese Club

students with projectsThe traditions of Chinese culture are taught. The Chinese teacher teaches the club members how to paint Chinese letters and art. They also got to make traditional Chinese food.

 Fitness Club

fitness club small.jpgFitness games are played in the gym and enable club members to learn how to work together while becoming healthy.

 Newspaper and Yearbook Club

This club meets every Thursday after school. It is made up of students in fifth and sixth grade. Every month, club members create a newspaper to help keep the school community up to date on events and happenings at Cardinal Maida. The cost of each newspaper is 50 cents. Proceeds are used for technology.

The Yearbook Club is in charge of creating the yearbook for the entire year. They go through hundreds of pictures and choose the best images to display in the yearbook. They then use Microsoft Publisher to create a final product.

 Robotics Club

students in roboticsThe Robotics Club is for students in fourth through sixth grade. It is taught by a parent volunteer and Kiski Area School District teacher, Mrs. Schaeffer. She uses Lego Mindstorms to teach the students how to program their robot to sense color and touch, create sound and move.

 Spanish Club

The Spanish Club enjoys learning the Spanish culture through discussions, making piñatas and celebrating Cinco de Mayo. They also take a field trip to an authentic Spanish restaurant.

 Student Council

​The Student Council is comprised of students from fourth through sixth grade. Elections are held at the beginning of the school year for the following positions, president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. There are also two representatives from each class. The goal of the student council is to make Cardinal Maida Academy better. They raise money by selling candy grams at Christmas and organizing car washes.
